UCL Healthcare Supply Chain Scholarship 2027 — £10,000 Master's Award
Partially funded Master scholarship in United Kingdom for All nationalities students 2027
UCL offers £10,000 towards tuition for the Supply Chain Management for Healthcare MSc, open to UK and overseas applicants. Round 1 closes 15 January 2027.
Eligibility
- Applying for the Supply Chain Management for Healthcare MSc, September 2027 entry
- Upper second-class UK degree or overseas equivalent, or substantial relevant experience
- Meets UCL English Level 2
- Self-funded for the balance of the tuition
- Open to UK and overseas applicants
UCL's Global Business School for Health has opened its 2027 scholarship round, and the Future Healthcare Supply Chain Leaders award is the one aimed at students outside the UK as much as inside it. It is a £10,000 tuition award attached to a single master's programme, Supply Chain Management for Healthcare MSc, and Round 1 closes on 15 January 2027. It is not a full scholarship. It is, however, a realistic discount on a London master's at a time when most UK awards for international students are either closed or restricted to home fee status.
What it covers
The award is £10,000 applied against tuition for the MSc. It is paid as a fee reduction, not as cash, and it cannot be transferred to another programme or deferred to a later intake. That restriction matters: if you are admitted to a different UCL programme, or you defer, the award does not follow you.
Because the value is fixed, the effective discount depends on the tuition you face. International fees for this programme sit well above the award, so treat £10,000 as a contribution of roughly a third and plan the rest through savings, a loan or a second funding source. UCL also lists a separate Healthcare Supply Chain Excellence scholarship at £20,000, but that one is restricted to UK applicants, and an India-specific award at the same value; neither is open to applicants from Afghanistan, Pakistan or China.
Who can apply
The scholarship is open to UK and overseas applicants who are applying for the Supply Chain Management for Healthcare MSc for September 2027 entry, and who will be self-funded. Selection is on academic merit, assessed alongside the course application. There is no separate nationality quota and no requirement to return home afterwards.
The programme itself is taught at UCL East in Stratford rather than in Bloomsbury, and it is designed for people who want to work on how medicines, devices and other health commodities actually reach patients. That framing is useful when you write the scholarship form: the reviewers are looking for someone who understands a supply problem, not someone who likes the idea of healthcare.
Eligibility: run this self-check before you start
Are you applying for the September 2027 intake of Supply Chain Management for Healthcare MSc, and only that programme? Do you hold, or expect to hold, at least an upper second-class UK degree or its overseas equivalent? Can you meet UCL's Level 2 English requirement? Are you funding the rest of the tuition yourself? Can you describe one concrete supply chain problem you have seen, studied or worked on? If the last answer is vague, the application will read as a generic statement of interest, which is what most of the unsuccessful ones are.
Work experience is assessed case by case. Applicants without the standard academic profile but with substantial relevant professional experience in logistics, procurement, pharmacy or health administration are sometimes admitted, so a mid-career applicant from a ministry of health or an NGO supply unit is not automatically excluded.
Deadline and what the calendar really means
Round 1 closes on 15 January 2027. UCL's page states the award is open for 2027 entry and directs applicants to submit the scholarship form by that date for Round 1. Later rounds exist, but the school says places are limited and awards are made per round, so a later application competes for whatever remains. The course application and the scholarship application are two separate submissions, and the scholarship is assessed on the assumption that you are admissible to the course.
There is a practical trap here. UCL's course pages for 2027 entry were still being finalised when this was written, and the programme page notes that some 2027/28 details were pending. Apply early enough that a missing document can be fixed without missing 15 January.
How to apply
Apply for the MSc through UCL's graduate admissions system first and keep the applicant number. Then open the scholarship form linked from the Future Healthcare Supply Chain Leaders page and complete it before 15 January 2027. The form is short, which is precisely why it is easy to under-invest in: it is the only place where you can explain why this specific programme and this specific problem matter to you.
Documents checklist
Transcripts and degree certificates with English translations. English language evidence at UCL Level 2. A CV showing any supply chain, logistics, procurement, pharmacy or health operations experience. A personal statement for the course. The scholarship form itself. If you are self-funding, a credible plan for the balance of the fees, because the award does not cover them.
Common mistakes
Applying for the scholarship before the course, which leaves the form without an application to attach to. Writing about healthcare in general when the programme is about supply. Assuming £10,000 is full funding and discovering in June that it is not. Missing the Round 1 date on the theory that later rounds are equivalent. And applying to a different GBSH programme while citing this scholarship, which fails on the first eligibility line.
Tips to win
Anchor the application in a supply problem you can describe in numbers: a stock-out, a cold chain failure, a procurement delay, a distribution gap between a central warehouse and a district hospital. Explain what you did about it and what you could not fix. Then say what the MSc gives you that you cannot get from a short course. Merit-based reviewers reward specificity because it is rare.
