Applying for a scholarship — common questions

Straight answers, no agency fee attached.

How do I find scholarships I am eligible for?

Use the "For students from" filter above and choose your own nationality. Every listing in the feed records which students it is open to, so the filter is exact rather than a keyword match. You can combine it with a destination — for example your nationality and China — and with a level such as Bachelor, Master or PhD.

Which countries offer the most fully funded scholarships?

China (through the Chinese Government Scholarship and the Confucius Institute programmes), the United States (Fulbright and university-funded awards), Germany (DAAD), the United Kingdom (Chevening and Commonwealth), Japan (MEXT) and Türkiye (Türkiye Bursları) are the destinations with the largest number of fully funded awards open to international students. Filter by "Study in" to see what is currently open in each.

Can I apply without IELTS or TOEFL?

Yes — a meaningful share of government scholarships, particularly in China, Türkiye and parts of Europe, allow a medium-of-instruction certificate or an internal English test instead of IELTS. Search the feed for "without IELTS" and always confirm the language requirement on the official page before you spend time on an application.

How often is this list updated?

New scholarships are added every day. Each listing shows the date it was added and, where the provider has published one, the exact application deadline. The "Closing soon" filter shows everything with a deadline in the next 30 days.

Do I have to pay OEAC for help with an application?

No. This scholarship feed and the guidance on this site are free. OEAC Network does not charge students to be listed here, we are not an agent for any university, and we never ask for a fee to process a scholarship application. If a site asks you for money to "secure" a scholarship, it is not legitimate.

What documents do I need for a scholarship application?

Almost every scholarship asks for: a passport valid for at least the duration of the course, academic transcripts and certificates, a statement of purpose or motivation letter, at least two academic reference letters, and a language certificate unless it is waived. Start the reference letters first — they are the step that delays most applications.
